Chiller keeps your appetite wet for more horror originals with “BENEATH”

Chiller original productions are certainly a mixed bag. Some have been decent, some just awful. However, the fact that Chiller keeps churning original movies productions out is a positive sign that they will keep making a go at it hoping to make some good quality horror movies. With that, the latest original production is officially under way….it’s titled BENEATH and the synopsis is as follows:

Chiller’s original movie Beneath has commenced production in Oxford, CT with an eye towards a Spring 2013 premiere. Beneath stars Danny Zovatto (Innocence), Bonnie Dennison (Stake LandThird Watch), Chris Conroy (Sorority Row), Jonny Orsini (Imogene), Griffin Newman (Political Animals) and Mackenzie Rosman (7th Heaven).  Also joining the cast is Emmy-nominee Mark Margolis (Breaking Bad) as Mr. Parks.

When a group of young friends commemorating their high school graduation take a trip to the remote Black Lake, their celebration turns into a nightmare with the sudden appearance of a bloodthirsty, underwater predator.  Stuck in a leaking boat with no oars, the teens face the ultimate tests of friendship and sacrifice during a terror-stricken fight for survival.

Beneath is written by Tony Daniel and Brian D. Smith, and directed by horror icon Larry Fessenden (The Last WinterHabit). Produced by Fessenden and Peter Phok for Glass Eye Pix (Stake LandThe InnkeepersI Sell The Dead).

Chiller goes origin story hunting with Real Fear: The Truth Behind the Movies!

The sheer amount of horror movies that begins with a screen of all too familiar text “Based on true events” is enough to make you pull out your hair and gouge out your eyes before anything scary has even taken place. Just how accurate do the movies stay to the events they are based on? No one really ever knows…..until now……

Chiller investigates the terrifying factual stories that inspired some of the scariest horror movies of all time, including Silent Hill, The Amityville Horror, The Mothman Prophecies and Poltergeist, through exclusive eyewitness interviews and reenactments of actual events. Paranormal investigator Katrina Weidman (Paranormal State) travels with three of her friends into the dark recesses of the unknown to uncover the buried secrets behind these four iconic films.

Brian Keene’s GHOUL gets a trailer and an air date….

Premiering April 13th on Chiller is GHOUL an adaptation from Brian Keene’s novel. This is the next in many planned original movies for the network which kicked things off a couple months back with Steve Niles’ REMAINS.

Synopsis: “It is the summer of 1984 when a teenage couple goes missing among the gravestones of the local cemetery. Twelve-year-old Timmy and his best friends, Barry and Doug, have grown up hearing stories about a sinister Ghoul that haunts the cemetery. Eventually, they begin to wonder if the horrific legend might actually be real. Timmy and his friends are forced to put their friendship to the ultimate test when they dig up long-buried secrets, facing their personal demons and the one hiding underground.”

Looks almost like a mix between Stephen King’s IT and STAND BY ME…will it come close to as good as either of the aforementioned titles? Only one way to find out, tune in to Chiller on April 13th (A Friday the 13th, of course)!

Get ready for Steve Nile’s REMAINS on Chiller by watching the webisode prequel “Road to Reno” now available!

This coming Friday, December 16th at 7pm/10pm eastern, Chiller will be debuting the zombie flick REMAINS based on the graphic novel of the same name.

Based on the IDW Publishing graphic novel written by Steve Niles (30 Days of Night) and illustrated by Kieron Dwyer, Remains is set in a chilling post-apocalyptic Reno, Nevada, and follows the survivors of a bizarre accident that reduced most of the world’s population to zombies. The group takes refuge in a vacant casino and fights a losing battle against the undead, who grow steadily stronger, smarter and more aggressive by the minute. The movie stars Grant Bowler (True Blood, Ugly Betty), Lance Reddick (Fringe, Lost, The Wire), Miko Hughes (Pet Sematary) and Tawny Cypress (Rescue Me, Heroes). Remains is written by John Doolan and directed by Colin Theys; Andrew Gernhard and Zach O’Brien will serve as producers for Synthetic Cinema International.

However, you don’t have to wait until Friday to get your first bite of action from the story as Chiller is offering a 10 minute prequel webisode titled “Road to Reno” right now exclusively at their website. (Unfortunately they are not allowing embedding at this time so the best I can do is point you to the webisode HERE, if that changes I will embed the video here on the site)

Dexter, American Horror Story, Terra Nova, Walking Dead, etc etc….I want to know your thoughts?

With The Walking Dead season 2 getting underway a few hours ago….or depending on when you are reading this, last night, it is safe to say that the Horror-TV season is in full effect and will be pretty jam packed with shows and series for the remainder of 2011.  Despite all the shows currently airing, we still have NBC’s Grimm, Bag of Bones, as well as Chiller’s original movie, Remains, among many more that I have probably failed to mention.

That said, I want to know what you, the visitors of the site and listeners of the podcast think about all the returning series and new shows.  It doesn’t matter if you enjoy ‘em, hate ‘em, want to pick certain elements apart regarding them.  I am all for your feedback no matter what your opinions are, and I’d love to feature all of your thoughts in an upcoming episode of the podcast.

You can do something as simple as leave a reply on this topic below, email your thoughts to evilepisodespodcast@hotmail.com or you can be even more bold and record your comments in audio form and send them to the same email and I will play them during the show.

With the audience of the podcast growing slowly but surely, I am always interested to get the pulse of the audience as to what they are watching and what they want to discuss.  So speak up and be a part of an upcoming episode of the podcast!

Harper’s Island series finale airing this Monday on CHILLER (marathon to lead up)

A few months ago I reported that the mini-series Harper’s Island which originally aired on CBS,(albeit had it’s legs cut out from under it about three quarters of the way through) would re-air in it’s entirety on the CHILLER network. This Monday the series wraps up as the exciting finale will be airing, with a marathon session of the series episodes leading up to it. Check out the finale preview as well as quick interviews asking the 6 remaining characters how they would like to be killed off.  (Warning: HEAVY SPOILERS)

Oh and keep in mind, the promo is from when the series had originally aired on CBS, so although the CHILLER finale happens to also land on “July 11th”, It’s Monday July 11th, not the exact date that appears in the video:

For more details such as date and time’s for the marathon of the series beginning Monday as well check out CHILLER’s schedule page.   Harper’s Island CHILLER finale airs Monday at 10pm Eastern/7pm Pacific(It also looks like that won’t be the end of the series on CHILLER as the schedule shows it popping back up August 6th…so for those of you still snoozing on the series, you indeed will seemingly get a third chance.  SO GET ON IT)
