Evil Episodes #33 – The Abominable Snowman

Welcome to episode #33 of Evil Episodes!

We start off the show with a huge bang, welcoming in a brand new co-host, Patrick, to the show! Everyone say Hello…..Patrick is basically an encylopedia of horror knowledge, especially when it comes to the TV-side.  His expertise was put on display early in often in this, his first episode. Things gets started with thoughts on the first couple of episodes of The Following, as well as what our hopes our for the show and where we hope it doesn’t turn into down the road.
We then transition into the news, which includes some video game news, TV show news, and more of the usual stuff. The main review this week is SYFY’s Abominable Snowman. SYFY has set the standard for movies we watch (so you don’t have to).  Will it be any different this time around? The show finishes out with the final 3 episodes of Season 1 of Tales from the Darkside. Yes, we finally made it to the end of season 1. Hooray! Hope you enjoy episode #33 and you can expect another HUGE ANNOUNCEMENT for episode #34 in a couple of weeks!

SYFY is well on it’s way to the record books for bringing different monster movie originals to the small screen. Next up fits right in with the winter time we are all experiencing right now, ABOMINABLE SNOWMAN!  The movie airs this Saturday at 9pm!  Check out the trailer below

We all know SYFY flicks tend to be more on the silly-side rather than the scary, the hope is that the silliness is on overload, enough to where you just can’t turn away. I’d say SYFY is due for this happen…..

Don’t miss the premiere on Saturday January 26th!

This Saturday, Zombies will rise on SYFY as the network premieres original movie “Rise of the Zombies”

Evil Episodes #25 – Dead Season review w/special guest Midnight Corey!

Welcome back for another installment of Evil Episodes!

This is the big #25 so a celebration of horror is in order!
We get right into things with the discussion on some of the horror stuff we’ve been watching since the last episode, including the first couple episodes of the new season of Syfy’s Face Off reality competition show. What do we think of the new cast?   Then we get into some news which was dominated mostly by promos and trailers for some of our favorite returning horror tv shows…can you guess which ones?
For this occasion we also welcome back the zombie podcasting king himself, Midnight Corey (from The Electric Chair podcast) to review Dead Season with us. Does this zombie flick stack up to the competition or will this be the next in a long line of throwaway titles that end up lost in the shuffle?
We then close this episode with the latest installment of our Tales from the Darkside retrospective covering another three episodes of the series which include Slippage, Inside the Closet, & Word processor of the Gods!

In case you forgot to set the DVR, tonight is…… JERSEY SHORE SHARK ATTACK!

Oh yes…another SYFY gem is taking the TV Horror world by storm….tune in tonight to SYFY for JERSEY SHORE SHARK ATTACK!

This. Is. Happening.

SYFY gets into St Patrick’s Day spirit w/ Leprechaun’s Revenge. Trailer now online!

Totally un-releated to the infamous Leprechaun franchise starring Warwick Davis, Leprechaun’s Revenge is a SYFY original movie releasing on St. Patrick’s Day 2012 (Saturday March 17th)

Synopsis from IMDB:

“An evil leprechaun who has been imprisoned within the roots of a majestic old oak tree, is accidentally set loose on St. Patrick’s Day. Once free, he takes out his bloody revenge on the descendants of the people who originally imprisoned him”

TERRA NOVA cancelled by Fox…will be shopped to other networks!

Well for those such as myself who were waiting for news on a possible second season of Terra Nova, looks like the news is in and it isn’t good.  The show has been cancelled by Fox….

“Fox took a “big swing” and missed. The network has opted not to move forward with a second season of its Steven Spielberg time-travel drama Terra Nova.

The news comes as Fox has an increased roster of hourlong dramas, including J.J. Abrams’ Alcatrazand Kiefer Sutherland-Tim Kring’s Touch, and heavy hype surrounding its drama development. Given Terra Nova’s international appeal, however, its studio, 20th Century Fox TV, will attempt to shop the big-budget series to other networks.

While the pricey dinosaur series averaged 7.5 million total viewers and 2.6 million in the advertiser-coveted adults 18-49 demo in its 11-episode first season, it failed to catch on the way the network had hoped. Its two-hour finale matched a series low in the demo, drawing a 2.1 rating among adults 18-49 and an audience of 7.2 million.”

The full report at THR also speculates that the series will be shopped to other networks.  SyFy seems like it would be a perfect fit for a sci-fi series such as Terra Nova, however as one of the more expensive productions on network television, it does call into question whether a network such as SyFy could maintain the expensive budget and production values.

What are your thoughts? Did you follow Terra Nova? Were you a fan? Would you follow a hypothetical 2nd season to a new network?
