I haven’t posted news on this site in awhile. Been really busy lately with the podcast and just life in general. However, I had to throw this up as it is the latest trailer for a game I have had my eye on for awhile. Naughty Dog’s follow up to their smash hit Uncharted series; The Last of Us
“The Last of Us is genre-defining experience blending survival and action elements to tell a character-driven story about a population decimated by a modern plague. Cities are abandoned and being reclaimed by nature. Remaining survivors are killing each other for food, weapons, and whatever they can find. Joel, a ruthless survivor, and Ellie, a young teenage girl who’s braver and wiser beyond her years, must work together to survive their journey across what remains of the United States.”
With the latest trailer comes the release date, which is May 7th 2013…still a ways out, but trust me, that day is circled on my Calendar for sure now!
Ever since the first screenshot of Telltale’s upcoming Walking Dead video game was released months ago, everyone has been chomping at the bit for more details. Well that day has finally come. The Walking Dead game has an official website located here: http://www.telltalegames.com/walkingdead/page1
And a web series entitled Playing Dead that goes behind the scenes of making the game: Offical Synopsis is as follows:
“Learn about the game by watching PLAYING DEAD, a video series that takes you behind the scenes of the creation of the upcoming The Walking Dead video game based on Robert Kirkman’s award-winning comic series. Playing Dead is the online source for exclusive looks at The Walking Dead video game and interviews with the talent responsible for bringing the world of The Walking Dead to life. “
Here is episode 1:
Uncharted has to be one of my favorite new game franchises. The first one was released a bit under the radar, but eventually caught on, while Uncharted 2: Among Theives was my pick for GOTY. I haven’t had a chance to delve into the third installment just yet but reviews from reviewers/critics & fans alike have me feeling it will be another fun time. Now comes the news that Naughty Dog has a survival-horror game in the works titled “The Last of Us”
In fact there is a trailer for it just released at the Video Game awards last night. Check it, along with the official synopsis for the game, after the jump!

A few weeks ago I posted the trailer for a new game coming out in 2012 called Lollipop Chainsaw. Looks like a second trailer has been released, one in which the producers really went into overdrive trying to give a “grindhouse” feel to it. This game looks every bit as violent, bloody, action-filled, and vulgar as recent hit, House of the Dead:Overkill, and if you ask me, that is a great thing. Check out trailer # 2 below:
After two action-packed previews, I’d assume next up will be a trailer addressing more of the story itself, with of course some action packed in there as well. As if this holiday season hasn’t been packed enough with awesome games (I am already behind) it looks like 2012 is going to start off with a bang as well! Keep on checking back for more Lollipop Chainsaw news! Also check out the official website for a game synopsis, introduction to main star/character Juliet Starling as well as other goodies
One of the coolest thing about the horror genre is the sense of community and comradeship between different artists and creators. Apparently the makers of Dead Island are no different, and snuck in this cool Easter egg into the game which appears to be a replica of Jason Voorhees, including his home and for your troubles of tracking this all down, a brand new shiny chainsaw to mow down zombies with. Check out the video of how to find him, kill him, and get the chainsaw below:
Time to go hunting for a chainsaw!
Yakuza Of The End is a game not released over here, in which zombies start going on a rampage in Tokyo and it is up to the Yakuza to stop them. It has just been reported that the game is getting a North American release in March 2012, exclusively on the PS3. From Gamezone
Yakuza: Dead Souls is set in the infamous red light district of Tokyo, which is under attack from hordes of zombies. Players will not only face armies of the undead and incredibly powerful mutants, but a treacherous Japanese underworld that is just as merciless. Playing through the eyes of four of the most infamous characters of the series, witness allegiances shift quickly and the line between friend and foe lost. If you thought zombies were bad…meet the Yakuza!

Following up on a report earlier today in which it was revealed Lions Gate has picked up the rights to an adaption of Dead Island for the big screen, This came across my computer screen:
One of the the best straight adaptions of video game to screen I have seen, how about you? Be sure to subscribe to the youtube channel of the fine folks of the “GoingNoWhereShow” and show them some love!
It looks like Lionsgate has picked up the rights that will allow the zombies of Dead Island take another bite out of consumers in the form of a feature-length film…FirstShowing reports the following:
“In a press release, Lionsgate has announced their option of the film rights to Dead Island, the best-selling video game for XBOX 360, Playstation 3 and PC. Centering on an island where vacationers become terrorized by a quickly spreading zombie outbreak, the film hopes to capitalize on the hype surrounding the teaser trailer for the game from last year.”
What do you guys think? Is the time right for another zombie movie? With World War Z on the way as well, it looks like we could have another helping of brains coming out way in 2012. Let’s take a peak at the Dead Island announcement trailer once more below, and contemplate what it would look like with real actors/actresses in it. Would that trailer have you excited for a potential movie?
